          | Hey, check out my clock/counter — it's written in Java so it will run
anywhere, it's packed with neat features — and best of all, it's

                  CareWare

            JavaCounter counts page hits

JavaCounter tells your visitors the time

          — like it's

            SuperClock, an add-on Java module,

          provides an analog time display:

        -
Both JavaCounter and SuperClock are Java applications. This means they run on
the visitor's computer, which means the time will be as accurate as the
visitor's clock and there will be no network delays.
-
You can use most of the many counter sets available on the Web. Example:

            DigitMania

        .
-
The clock function of JavaCounter and the SuperClock analog clock module are
        easy to set up.
-
Because Java applets cannot write to files, the counter function of JavaClock
requires you to install a Perl script (provided) on your Web site. The counter
supports any number of pages and/or users.
-
JavaCounter can get along without digit graphics. It optionally generates text
and digits internally (as shown on this page), thus saving download time when
        the Internet is busy.
Note:
These Java applets are only as accurate as your computer's clock and time zone
settings. If the clocks do not show the correct time at your location, adjust
your computer's clock and time zone settings.

Do not write to tell me my page is broken.

6/25/1998: Corrected bug that allowed off-site counter access. You must
re-install both the Java class files and the CGI script to get this protection.

If you cannot see the Java applets on this page

, you need to enable Java in your browser. Here is how:

                  Netscape:

Select Options ... Network Preferences ... Languages .. Enable Java.

                  MSIE:

Select View ... Options ... Security ... Enable Java Programs.
